What is it?
The Light Leaks template allows users to easily customize a variety of HD or 4K light leak effects for compositing over your footage in After Effects. Along with the customizable effects and textures, this template also includes 115 seconds of HD light leak footage for fast and easy compositing. The footage is a combination of authentic light leaks captured in-camera, as well as pre-rendered computer-generated light leaks.
Light leaks traditionally occur when light manages to enter through cracks in a film camera's body, exposing the film and producing colorful flashes of light. But what was once an accidental defect, is now a popular effect for stylizing videos! This template is perfect for creating transitions for editing, to get an old film look, or for adding a grunge style to footage.
Details
This free After Effects project includes both HD and 4K comps, and is compatible with Adobe After Effects, versions 17 (2020) and all later versions. It works in both Windows and macOS – all you need is After Effects.
This effect uses CC Ball Action – a 3D effect on a 2D layer. It's compatible with the camera's Position but does not support depth of field.
This effect has been universalized, and will work in After Effects running in any language.
