Pulse is an Adobe After Effects template that turns your audio into aggressively cool visuals! Choose from 30 audio visualizers to create animations that react to the volume and frequencies of your music. From 3D particle animations and abstract waveforms to audio-driven effects for footage, Pulse covers a wide range of visual styles to deliver a visual feast of ear-candy for the eyes.
Every visualizer includes intuitive controls that let you customize the look, adjust sensitivity, and fine-tune exactly how each attribute responds to your audio, making it easy to create endless unique results. Pulse is ideal for lyric videos, music videos (apply to footage), pre-rendered VJ loops, concert backdrops, and music-driven Reels, Shorts, and TikTok videos.

30 Audio Visualizer Presets - Pulse includes 30 visualizers covering a wide range of visual styles, including a flamethrower, inkblot, kaleidoscope, pinwheel, swarming shapes, dot-and line networks, and multiple 3D particle animations. 15 of the presets use the Audio Spectrum effect (audio waveform) to visualize your audio's frequency changes. The other 15 are driven by audio volume, using loudness to animate motion, scale, color, speed, and other visual properties.

3D Push - Two presets that displace the pixels of your footage in three dimensions

Crystal Dream - A trippy, sparkly filter that intensifies as the audio gets louder

Glitch - A mix of time, texture, and distortion glitches that increase in intensity with audio volume

Time Stutter - Footage speeds up or reverses in sync with the music, creating a rhythmic "dance" effect

Easy Customization - Every preset includes intuitive controls for customizing the look and fine-tuning how individual attributes respond to your audio. If you don't see the control you're looking for, the provided copy-and-paste expression allows you to drive any property or effect with your audio. With the extensive customization options, you can easily create entirely new, unique visualizers.

Optional Effects - Each preset includes pre-selected optional effects that you can unhide to explore alternate looks.

HD or 4K - Both HD (1920x1080) and UHD (3840x2160) compositions are included for every preset.

This template is compatible with Adobe After Effects 2020 (v.17) and all later versions. Works in both Windows and macOS. No plugins required. Original release date: 12/22/2025. One feature of the template – the Displace control for CC Ball Action – will be disabled in AE 2023 and earlier.

Visualizers come in both UHD (3840x2160) and HD (1920x1080) – just choose your format. Any other resolution will work if you change the dimensions for the comp and Solid layers.

Not all visualizers respond to audio frequency. 15 of the 30 visualizers react only to overall volume. For best results, use music with strong dynamics and noticeable changes in loudness.

This template has been "universalized", so it will work in After Effects running in any language.
The Pulse template is not a plugin, so there is nothing to install. Rather, it's an Adobe After Effects project file, commonly known as a "template" because most of the work is already done and the user needs only to make their own customizations. This template is compatible with version 17.x (2020) as well as all later versions of After Effects.
