What is it?
The Paper Collage Effect is an After Effects template that transforms your footage into a handmade stop-motion paper collage animation. Every element of the animation is customizable, with intuitive controls that let you adjust the paper shapes, torn edges, and random behavior.
Included are 83 animated paper textures that you can use in your paper collage animations. The effect automatically places your HD or 4K footage onto pieces of paper with ripped and torn edges, then moves them around in a random—but fully controllable—manner. The result is a handmade scrapbook aesthetic with the charms and imperfections of a stop-motion mixed media animation.
The paper textures are created from over 100 high-resolution texture images (included). You'll find blank papers and canvases, grunge textures, fabrics, foils, patterns, and more. These animated textures change on every frame, and no two frames will ever look the same. Use them as backgrounds, grunge overlays, or as elements in your mixed media animations.

Details
This free After Effects project includes both HD and 4K comps, and is compatible with Adobe After Effects, versions 17 (2020) and all later versions. It works in both Windows and macOS – all you need is After Effects.
This effect uses CC Ball Action – a 3D effect on a 2D layer. It's compatible with the camera's Position but does not support depth of field.
This effect has been universalized, and will work in After Effects running in any language.
